Solid Flexibility for Remote IT Roles
Pros: I've enjoyed the work arrangement here, especially being able to work remote from my home office. It's a big plus for work-life balance. For IT solution implementation, they give you decent autonomy.
Cons: Sometimes it feels like flexibility depends a lot on your direct manager, not a company-wide policy. There isn't always enough support for non-standard schedules for certain vertical market software projects.
Advice to Management: Standardize remote work policies more. Ensure all managers support flexible schedules for all roles, especially for implementation consultant teams.

Okay Remote Work, but Some Flexibility Lacking
Pros: As a remote Software Developer, I appreciate the freedom to work from home daily. There's good autonomy for handling my tasks within my product development team. It's solid for not having to commute at all.
Cons: Actual work flexibility beyond just location isn't always a thing. Core hours can be pretty strict, making it hard to adjust schedules, even for a remote role. It's not as flexible with my time as I'd hoped for in software engineering.
Advice to Management: Managers should push for more genuine flexible hours, not just remote-first, across different enterprise software divisions. It would really boost morale for the Software Development teams.

Remote flexibility is there, but watch out.
Pros: I appreciate the remote work option for us Software Engineers. It means no commute, which is a huge plus. Being able to log in from my home office for these technical roles is pretty standard now and helpful.
Cons: It's not truly flexible if the workload is still massive. Sometimes it feels like "remote" just means you work more hours from home. The hybrid model is talked about, but it's not consistent across all acquired businesses, causing frustration in our public sector tech team.
Advice to Management: Management should really standardize the work flexibility policies across all business units. It'd help a lot with morale and consistency, especially for teams working on legacy systems. Give us more real autonomy, not just the option to WFH.

Hybrid model works, but could be better
Pros: I liked the hybrid work setup. As a Software Developer, I could split my time between the Ottawa office and working from home, which was nice for my commute. There's decent flexibility if you manage your projects well within the enterprise software group.
Cons: The remote work policy isn't super consistent across all teams or recent acquisitions. Sometimes it feels like you're tied to specific 'office days' even when it's not really necessary. There's not much room for true work-from-anywhere options.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid and remote work policies across all business units. Trust your teams to get the job done without rigid office attendance rules, especially for experienced Software Developer roles.

Decent place for stability, but flexibility varies
Pros: They offer a decent hybrid model. I'm in the Ottawa office a couple of times a week. That flexibility is pretty good if you manage your projects well. It beats being fully onsite for a Software Developer role.
Cons: The flexibility can really depend on your specific team or manager. Some teams get more remote work than others, which feels a bit unfair. There isn't a solid company-wide standard for IT roles.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize work flexibility policies across all teams. It would help a lot with morale for technical roles. Make it fair for everyone in the public sector software divisions.
