Pay is decent, but benefits could improve
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer here was pretty competitive for an AI startup in Austin, TX. I felt my efforts were recognized in my paycheck. The paid time off policy was also decent.
Cons: The healthcare plan wasn't great at all; it was pretty basic. The 401k match was also minimal, especially compared to what bigger tech companies offer. It felt like the benefits package for hybrid work employees was an afterthought.
Advice to Management: Review the benefits package, especially healthcare and 401k matching. It's tough to retain good talent, like skilled Software Engineers, with such basic offerings, even for a startup environment.

Decent WFH flexibility, but expect late nights.
Pros: The hybrid work model is a big plus. It's nice to have those remote days, which helps with personal appointments. For a software engineer, it's not always constant crunch time like some other places in the biotech industry.
Cons: Work-life balance here is pretty tough during active development cycles. You often put in long hours, especially when project deadlines loom. The Austin, TX office expects you in a few days a week, so it isn't fully WFH.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project timelines. It would really help prevent burnout for the engineering teams.
