Tough Work-Life Balance for Legal Counsel
Pros: You get great exposure to complex litigation cases. This is awesome for career growth in the legal industry. The team is solid, and you learn a lot from senior partners. Benefits are decent for a mid-sized law firm.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Junior Legal Counsel is really tough. Expect 60+ hour weeks, especially with billable hour demands. This impacts personal time and there's not much work flexibility, mostly onsite in the downtown New York office.
Advice to Management: Management needs to seriously look at the billable hour expectations for junior legal counsel. More support or better staffing could help ease the workload and improve work-life balance for everyone in the New York office.
