Culture is okay, but it's not a startup
Pros: People are generally smart and kind. You've got good benefits and solid job security, which is big for corporate roles in Chicago. The hybrid schedule is also a plus for work-life balance.
Cons: It can be slow-paced. Innovation isn't always a priority, which is tough for technical roles in educational technology. Sometimes there's a bit of an "old guard" mentality.
Advice to Management: Try to encourage more agile methods and support new ideas from the tech team. It'd really help with staff morale in our educational institution.

Growth Opportunities Are Decent, But Could Be Clearer
Pros: You work on diverse projects across the financial services industry, which helps build a solid skillset. There's good exposure to different clients and problems, especially early on in your career. It's a decent place to learn if you're eager.
Cons: The career progression for consulting roles isn't very transparent in our Chicago office. It's hard to tell what you need to do to get promoted. Formal mentorship programs are missing, so you're largely on your own for career planning. It can feel a bit stagnant if you're not constantly pushing.
Advice to Management: Establish clearer promotion criteria for Associate Consultants and create structured mentorship programs. Help employees understand the path forward in their careers at Booth.

Solid Vibe, Some Hurdles in a Big Academic Place
Pros: I really liked my team in the Chicago office; everyone was super supportive. We had a decent sense of community, especially for a large academic institution. The hybrid work model helped with flexibility.
Cons: Sometimes the culture felt a bit siloed between departments. It's a big place, so getting decisions made can be tough. There's not always a clear path for career growth here for Program Coordinator roles.
Advice to Management: Try to foster more cross-departmental collaboration. Streamline decision-making processes to avoid bottlenecks. Improve communication on career progression for administrative staff.

Booth offers good stability for staff roles
Pros: As a Program Coordinator in the Chicago office, I felt pretty secure. Being part of a big university like UChicago means there's a lot of underlying stability in higher education. You don't worry about layoffs much.
Cons: While job security is strong, rapid career growth isn't always there for administrative staff. Promotions can be slow, and you might need to jump departments to move up. Funding for new initiatives sometimes makes things uncertain.
Advice to Management: Try to create clearer career paths and more opportunities for internal promotion for non-faculty staff. It would help with retention.

Leadership Tries Hard, But Misses Sometimes
Pros: Some of the project managers really know their stuff. They're good at guiding you on tough client deliverables. You get decent support as an Associate Consultant on your immediate team, which is nice.
Cons: Senior leadership can feel pretty distant from daily operations. There's often a lack of clear direction for company-wide initiatives. It makes it tough to see where your career growth is headed long-term in the Chicago office.
Advice to Management: Try to bridge the gap between senior leadership and project teams. More transparent communication on strategic goals would really help everyone, especially those of us focused on daily consulting projects.

Pay is solid, benefits are okay here
Pros: As a Marketing Associate, the base salary was pretty decent for a mid-sized corporate company. You get your standard 401k match, which is a solid perk. The health insurance options were actually quite good for a hybrid role.
Cons: The bonus structure for marketing roles isn't very clear, so don't expect much. Raises are pretty small each year, barely keeping up with inflation. It's tough to get significant pay bumps here.
Advice to Management: Make the bonus structure more transparent for all corporate roles, especially in digital marketing. Also, review the annual raise percentages to be more competitive.
