Work Flexibility is Tough for Project Roles
Pros: IJM offers solid job security as a large corporate in the Malaysian construction industry. The scale of the infrastructure projects you work on is impressive, offering great learning for career growth.
Cons: Work flexibility is a big issue here. As a Civil Engineer, expect to be onsite most days; remote work isn't really an option for project roles. It makes work-life balance really tough, especially in the Kuala Lumpur office.
Advice to Management: Management should seriously look into offering some form of hybrid or even more structured flexible hours for office-based engineering staff. It's hard to retain good talent without it, especially when considering the demands of the construction industry.
