Company Reviews

The Dolomite Group of Companies has a long and rich history in Malaysia’s construction and building trade. It started operations in late 1950s as a quarry operator with its initial quarry located at Batu Caves, Selangor, Malaysia. Following the rapid development in Klang Valley, the quarry was subsequently shifted to the 838 acres quarry site allocated by the Government at Hulu Langat, Selangor, Malaysia.

The founders of Dolomite operated under the names of Bong Sin Construction Co Sdn Bhd and Lim Quee & Sons Sdn Bhd, which subsequently became powerhouses in the construction industry in the 1960s and 1970s. Notable construction and infrastructure projects are undertaken include Stadium Merdeka, Stadium Negara, the Bukit Nanas water treatment plant, Chin Woo Stadium, the mechanised sewerage treatment plant in Pantai and the Royal Malaysian Naval Base in Woodlands, Singapore.

Other development projects were the 2:12 Condominium and Desa Palma Condominium in Jalan Ampang, the People’s Park Complex and Sommerville Park Condominium in Singapore. Today, the second and third generation families of the original founders manage the Dolomite Group of Companies. From its humble beginnings in Batu Caves, the Company has now emerged as one of the major integrated groups in the country. In 2003, Dolomite Corporation Berhad became a listed company on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.

Tough Work-Life Balance for Civil Engineers
Pros: I've learned a lot here, especially getting hands-on experience with large-scale construction projects. The team is really supportive, which helps when things get stressful. Job security for engineering roles feels pretty solid here.
Cons: Work-life balance can be really tough. As a Civil Engineer, you're often putting in 50-60 hour weeks, especially around project deadlines. There's not much work flexibility or WFH options; it's mostly onsite in the Kuala Lumpur office.
Advice to Management: Consider more flexible hours, especially after major construction project milestones, to improve work-life balance for engineering roles. Employees would appreciate a better balance.
