Great Place to Grow Your Consulting Career
Pros: I've really appreciated the leadership here at EY. Managers and senior leaders are genuinely invested in your career development, offering tons of learning opportunities and mentorship. The collaborative environment is fantastic, and I've found my colleagues incredibly supportive. It's a great global professional services firm to gain diverse project experience and build a strong network, especially for a Consultant.
Cons: Sometimes the work-life balance can be a bit challenging during peak project times, which is typical for the professional services industry. While the flexible work options are great, occasional project demands mean long hours. Also, some internal approval processes can feel a little slow, which can be frustrating. Communication from the very top could be a bit more consistent across all teams, but overall it's a minor point in a generally positive experience.
Advice to Management: Continue to emphasize the importance of work-life balance even during busy periods, and perhaps streamline some of the internal approval workflows.

Excellent Platform for Career Growth and Flexible Work
Pros: EY provides fantastic learning and development, which has significantly advanced my career as a Senior Consultant in the professional services industry. The hybrid work model is a huge perk, offering excellent work flexibility. My team is super collaborative and supportive, fostering a strong environment for career growth if you're proactive and willing to learn. It's a great place for building diverse experience across different clients.
Cons: While the hybrid flexibility is a major plus, busy season workloads can still be quite intense, making work-life balance challenging during those specific periods. It's not consistently balanced throughout the year. Additionally, navigating internal approval processes for new projects or client engagements sometimes feels a bit slow and bureaucratic, which is common for a large global professional services firm like this.
Advice to Management: Continue to refine strategies for managing workload during peak periods to ensure a more consistent work-life balance for all employees. Streamlining some of the internal approval processes could also greatly improve efficiency for project execution. Focus on clearer communication regarding upcoming changes.

Great place for career growth and flexibility in consulting
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time at EY as a Senior Consultant. There are so many opportunities for learning and professional development, especially in the professional services and consulting space. The colleagues are supportive and I feel like I'm constantly gaining new skills. The hybrid work model in our Chicago office offers good work flexibility, which helps with balancing project demands and personal life.
Cons: Sometimes the project timelines can get pretty intense, leading to longer hours, which can impact work-life balance temporarily. The internal approval processes can also be a bit slow, especially for resource allocation, which sometimes delays project kick-offs. Communication could be clearer sometimes about firm-wide changes.
Advice to Management: Continue to refine internal communication processes and find ways to streamline resource allocation approvals to enhance project efficiency. Supporting flexible work options is great, keep it up.

Great for Learning and Career Development in Consulting
Pros: Great opportunities for learning and development. As a Senior Consultant in professional services, I've had access to excellent training and a wide variety of client engagements in the financial services industry. The project work is challenging and helps build strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Team members are generally supportive, and there's a strong emphasis on collaboration. It's a great place to kickstart your career.
Cons: The work-life balance can fluctuate, especially during peak seasons or tight project deadlines. While remote work is an option sometimes, the consulting industry often requires significant travel or long hours. The internal promotion process, while fair, can feel a bit slow at times compared to other firms, and the approval processes for various initiatives can sometimes be bureaucratic.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining internal approval processes and continue investing in initiatives that help manage project workloads more consistently to improve work-life balance for consultants.

Flexibility at EY: It's Project Dependent
Pros: The official hybrid model is decent, letting you work from home a few days a week if you're not on a client site. It's nice to have that option for personal appointments and avoiding the New York commute. For a global corporate, they do try to offer some choice.
Cons: Actual work flexibility can be tough as a Senior Consultant. Client demands often mean you're expected to be on-site more than the hybrid policy suggests. In the Big 4 industry, client expectations usually override internal guidelines, leading to longer hours and less control over your schedule.
Advice to Management: Try to enforce the hybrid work policies more consistently across different service lines and projects. Managing client expectations around consultant availability would also significantly improve work flexibility for staff.
